Organizational framework
As part of its program implementation, FAO supports the Haitian government in improving food security and promoting sustainable rural development in the face of recurring climate, food, and nutrition crises. FAO implements projects directly or through implementing partners and is accountable to resource partners and the government for project results management, timely reporting, the technical quality of results, and the appropriate use of resources.
Hierarchical position
The Expert will work under the general supervision of the FAO Representative in Haiti, under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, and in close consultation with the FAO technical teams in Haiti and the relevant units of the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (RLC), the Sub-regional Office for Central America (SLM) and the Headquarters. Forestry Unit
Area of specialization
The Expert supports the implementation of forestry and environmental projects through technical support, strengthening partnerships and coordinating activities in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to and technically support the implementation of projects in the areas of forestry, environment, natural resource management and the fight against climate change, including the engagement of government counterparts, the strengthening of implementation partnerships/consortia, and close collaboration with the various multidisciplinary teams of FAO;
Strengthen partnerships with the Government, NGOs at different levels, UN agencies and identify and establish other technical partnerships in light of opportunities and appropriate applicable mechanisms;
Contribute to the mobilization of resources in the aforementioned areas by coordinating the actions to be carried out and the identification of the technical teams to be mobilized;
Support project development teams by providing technical guidance on the content of the various projects to be developed;
Support the promotion and publication of results and lessons learned from different interventions and promote the visibility of project and FAO actions in the areas of intervention;
Liaise with the MEAL team and field offices to provide support for activity implementation and monitoring
Conduct field trips and visits to ensure adequate support is provided for the implementation of projects and programs;
Perform other duties as required.
APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Minimum conditions to be met
Advanced degree in forestry, environmental, agricultural, or related sciences, with a specialization in reforestation, rehabilitation of degraded lands, or sustainable forest management. A university degree (BA) with two years of experience is equivalent to the advanced university degree.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of agroforestry, reforestation, rehabilitation of degraded lands or sustainable management of natural resources.
Working knowledge of French.

Proven experience in leading and managing project teams, including successful project delivery and execution.
Previous experience in Haiti or fragile contexts;
Ability to collect, enter and analyze technical data, particularly in the areas of food security, nutrition and emergency response; knowledge of data analysis tools such as: Excel, SPSS or Power BI.
Proficiency in drafting, editing and coordinating various project documents, including concept notes, proposals and narrative reports
Skills in budget planning, monitoring and financial reporting to ensure alignment with available resources and project objectives.
Strong coordination skills to ensure effective liaison between programs, operations, procurement units and external partners, ensuring seamless project execution.
Ability to develop technical documents, guidance notes, visibility documents and detailed reports to a high standard.
Skills in working with government agencies, UN bodies, NGOs and donors, understanding their roles and requirements for successful collaboration.
Ability to conduct field visits, assess project progress and provide field support for operational activities.
Skills in maintaining and updating information systems and databases at national level in relation to project needs.
Ability to manage various tasks, make adjustments in response to field demands and effectively meet challenges.
Selection criteria
Average knowledge of English is an asset.
